A legally blind person who travels with her guide dog, Lander, Jean is a mediator and the founder of Blindconnect.  Active throughout the community, Jean remains committed to the mission of Blindconnect because the whole community needs to know that ''it's okay to be blind.''

Recently blinded, Al was a printer and gaming card manufacturer for may years.  He joined the Board to provide a different perspective and to work for increased services in the blindness community.

Micky is a founding member of Blindconnect.  Following a career with Maryland School for the Blind, she is currently a financial officer with a private business.  She hopes to continue supporting blind and visually impaired persons in Clark County.

Following 25 years as Orientation/Adjustment instructor with BSBVI, Priscilla retired in 2000 and joined the Board.  She is also active in a number of community non-profits.  She is committed to helping blind and visually impaired persons succeed in their challenging world.

Charlotte is a mediator and business owner.  She has a history of work in the rehabilitation field and an interest in promoting blindness issues throughout the community.  She is active in other non-profits and is president of the Lander Fan Club.

Melissa WasilevichMelissa Wasilevich

Missy is the mother of Daniel, a child with Retinopathy of Prematurity and cerebral palsy.  She enjoys talking to school and professional groups, writing about her son's experiences and helping other parents.  She joined the Board to help others through the process of having a disabled child, family member, or friend.

BOARD COMMITTEE RESPONSIBILITIES

  Committees help Blindconnect meet the needs of the membership as the organization strives to serve its mission and achieve its goals.  Each is chaired by a Board member and is accountable to both the Board and the membership.
 
 
  Membership

Develops membership materials, coordinates annual membership drive, mails membership cards and letters, contacts members as needed.

 
  Outreach

Coordinates speaking calendar, assigns members to present program, prepares press releases about Speaker's Bureau, evaluates effectiveness.

 
  Marketing

Develops and implements marketing plan, evaluates efforts, revises and updates strategies.

 
  Fund-Raising

Recommends annual fund-raising campaign, establishes action plan, implements large and small activities; provides leadership for fund-raising efforts.

 
  Volunteers

Develops and updates volunteer manual, seeks volunteers from organization and community, assigns and evaluates volunteers.

 
  Website

Coordinates efforts with webmaster, regularly updates website with input from Board and membership, handles e-mail inquiries from site.

 
  Newsletter

Gathers information and prepares quarterly newsletter under guidance of editor, distributes newsletter, assures regular flow of information on issues of blindness to members.
