Blindness Skills Training
This is the core offering of Blindconnect. It reflects our mission and our purpose. The training at Angela’s House is focused on teaching skills that help participants gain or regain independence and self-confidence following severe vision loss. Training includes daily living skills, orientation and mobility (white cane travel), technology, personal care, communication and advocacy, coping and adjustment, and Braille. It is a six-week program and is free to participants.

Tentative 2025 schedule: classes begin January 27, March 17, May 6 (tentative), August 18, and October 6 (tentative).
Community Day
This is a peer-based opportunity to learn more technology and Braille and practice cane travel. It meets on Mondays from 9:30am to 12:30pm, except during weeks with Blindness Skills Training.
Virtual Braille Class
Join others in a beginning Braille class on Zoom. Learn from the comfort of your home with experienced Braille teachers.
Career Program
This six-week specialized program is a collaboration with our partner DETR (Department of Employment, Training, and Rehabilitation). You must be a DETR client to attend. It is open to their clients and offers training in job searches, writing resumes and preparing LinkedIn profiles, interviewing techniques, and mastering the soft skills required in job settings. It is provided by an experienced Career Coach with extensive experience.
Low Vision Grant
This privately funded grant assists those with limited or no vision insurance. Recipients can get a low vision exam and some adaptive equipment for daily living.

Peer Support Group
Open to blind and low vision adults, this group meets Mondays (except holidays) from 1:15-2:45pm at the Angela’s House Training Center. This is not mental health counseling. The group focuses on the day-to-day issues faced due to vision loss in a supportive and confidential setting.
Specialized Training
There are opportunities for blind and low vision adults to receive basic one-on-one or small group training in technology, daily living skills, and white cane travel.
